Music at the Junction - Summer Music Festival
The Music at the Junction summer music festival is an annual event held
every summer at Potter Park. This is a great family event that is
co-sponsored by the City of La Junta and the La Junta Chamber of
Commerce to benefit the Arkansas Valley Hospice. Each year several bands
play live on the big stage beginning at noon and playing until 9 p.m.
The bands consist of several local groups as well as bands from Pueblo
and Colorado Springs. Each band plays a variety of music ranging from
blues, to country, classic and alternative rock.Admission is under $5,
with advance purchase ($7 at the gate) and
as an added bonus the City offers reduced prices at the swimming pool
for those who want to cool off and still enjoy the music. The grounds
are transformed from baseball diamond to event forum with large tents
and plenty of seating. Or, bring your own gear, pick a spot and spread
out in the outfield and get set to have a really good time. There are
always several food vendors on hand offering everything from barbecue to
funnel cakes. It's a great way to spend a summer afternoon with your
family and help raise money for a good cause. Plan to visit La Junta
when the Music at the Junction festival is on and you will find yourself
picking out your spot for next year.
